Job description

The Desktop Administrator is responsible for deploying and managing workstations, providing technical support, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include end-to-end device management, troubleshooting operating systems, handling IT tickets, and offering user training on Microsoft applications. This role also involves maintaining security protocols, managing access to systems, and continuously improving IT processes through collaboration with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate works independently, excels at multitasking, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. 

Job requirements

Device Management and Deployment 

  • Oversee equipment deployment and manage the IT portion of the new hire program, ensuring smooth onboarding. 

  • Responsible for end-to-end device management, including the installation of updates, software, and image standardization of users' endpoint devices. 

  • Implement, maintain, and monitor the lifecycle of Windows and MacOS operating systems, ensuring devices are up-to-date and running efficiently. 

Technical Support and Ticket Management 

  • Provide technical support and manage IT tickets, ensuring timely resolution of issues reported by users. 

  • Respond to employee requests related to IT infrastructure and troubleshoot Microsoft-based operating systems. 

  • Serve as the front-line resource for technical issues, ensuring minimal disruptions to user workflows while maintaining high levels of customer service. 

Access Management and Security 

  • Grant and remove access to applications and programs, ensuring proper permissions and security measures are in place. 

  • Ensure devices and systems are secure by maintaining up-to-date security protocols and best practices. 

  • Stay informed on the latest technologies and security updates to ensure the infrastructure remains protected against potential vulnerabilities. 

User Technology Onboarding, Training, and Development 

  • Onboard new users to our technical platforms and new technology that is implemented. 

  • Train users on best practices for utilizing Microsoft applications and IT systems. 

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to users to enhance their technical proficiency and productivity. 

  • Offer suggestions and improvements to technical and non-technical resources to help users maximize their use of technology. 

Process Improvement and Collaboration 

  • Offer improvements to existing processes and build new workflows to enhance operational efficiency. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather hardware and software requirements and ensure proper implementation. 

  • Present ideas and suggestions to improve processes and align with the organization’s goals and needs. 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with desktop administration 

  • M365/O365 experience including: 

  • Licensing 

  • User Creation/Management/Deletion 

  • Software installation 

  • Understanding of M365 roles and permissions 

  • Microsoft Entra 

  • Intune and Autopilot 

  • Office 365 Support 

  • Windows/MacOS Support 

  • Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise Applications Knowledge 

  • Laptop Installation/Deployment/Upgrading/Troubleshooting Hardware 

  • Remote Desktop Support 

  • Printer Support 

  • Basic network troubleshooting 

  • iPhone/Android Smartphone Support 

  • Windows and MacOS Support 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Defender experience 

  • PowerShell experience 

  • Microsoft certification preferred
